Happy Birthday today to Jessica Cameron!
Enjoy your Christmas break - we found out last night that Kris MacPhee is unable to work with us next Thursday, and we're trying to coordinate with Summerside Pool to have fitness there on the 30th. Will let you know asap.

Update
Apparently, we should cancel fitness more often!! Congratulations to Nadine, who got engaged when fitness was cancelled last Thursday. And yes, she is seriously considering having 20 bridesmaids and 21 fathers give her away. (Apparently her own father wanted a piece of the pie as well.) Check out her rock, she had to get a special hockey glove at the Pownal Blades last game, just to be able to shoot!
Good luck to Shannon MacAulay, at the Team Canada Camp December 17-19. If successful, she'll find out on the 20th and she'll travel to Sweden to play at the World Championship on December 27th. We're proud of you Shannon - good luck!
December Schedule
Fitness: December 02, 09, 16, 23, 30 7pm - please let Robyn know if you can't make it to a fitness session.
Practices:
December 04 9:10 in Kensington
December 11 9:10 in Kensington Team run 2pm at UPEI (be there for 1:30, Santa hat in hand)

Team meeting (with parents!!) 12:30pm at the elementary school
We're trying to secure exhibition games for December 20th, 27th, and January 3rd. Will let you know when we find out!
Please let Robyn know what you are able, or unable to attend.
Take care of your injuries!
Looking for 'younger' pictures of players - baby pics, when they first started playing hockey, etc. Scan and email to one of us, or bring it in and we'll scan and get it back to you. Thanks!

Let It Snow!
Thanks to those who could help today at the Seaport Center setting up for the benefit for Kristen Cameron. Great to know you all have skills beyond the rink - and no, you may not count lifting the tables and chairs as fitness!
We have fitness Thursday evening at 7, and practice next Saturday at 9:10. November and December calendars have been emailed, please let Robyn know if you haven't received one.

Congratulations Genna, Congratulations Alyssa!
Let's take a minutes to wish good luck and have fun to Genna Phelan and Alyssa Ferguson, heading to St. John's Nov 10th representing Hockey PEI...we hope they take the rain with them!
A change in this week's plan: there will NOT be a fitness session on Thursday, 11 November, due to Remembrance Day and the exams that some of you are writing this week.
Saturday, 13 November: practice at 9:10, off-ice fitness 10:30-11:30 (be prepared for indoor and outdoor!) and chili and biscuits (don't worry Mel, we'll find something else for you!) at Chris and Robyn's parents place 11:35-12:30. As you can tell by the timeline, Mom and Dad live quite close to the rink, we could run there.....wait a minute, that's a good idea!
Parents are invited to the chow down, (fitness too, if you think they can handle it!) or can drop you off at the rink and pick you up at Aikens'.
Aiken's house: 54 Andrews Drive (Andrews Dr. is directly across from Castle building center which is on Route 2 as you leave Kensington heading towards Charlottetown.)

'Twas the week before ACC...
Hi All,
Thanks for the participation in the Run for the Cure on Sunday. If you check the front page of The Guardian, you should be able to see Hayden running her confident stride - the forest green shirt in the sea of white!
Just a few reminders - we have a team meeting Tuesday, 05 October at Stonepark, 7pm. Please bring your log books - with paper to write on, and a writing utensil (that means pen or pencil). We'll be going over some forecheck, breakouts, and power play / penalty kill. We're also going to do a little mental training work.
Please take the time this week to do a skate sharpening, (check the rivets too!) and an equipment check. Make sure everything is in working order!
I've only received a few emails with your picks for captain/assistant captains (or "cappy's" as Nicole says). Please send that along tout suite. (Francais for "now").
For those of you who forget:
Friday: 11am practice (be there for 10, picture before hand, do your hair!)
5:30pm game vs. NL
Saturday: 11:45am practice
8:00pm game vs. NS
Sunday: 2:30 game vs. NB
Monday: 9am or 12pm
If you have any questions, rlmacdonald@edu.pe.ca

July 22 Fitness
This week finds us breaking a sweat in Murray River, at the rink. Bring water, sneakers, and if you have them, your fitness logs. These logs are just a snapshot of what you've been doing for off-ice fitness - a calendar of sorts that records your fitness (workouts, other sports, etc), nutrition, etc. You can hand-write, use a computer program, or email to me.
Just a reminder of the team run in O'Leary on Saturday. It's looking to be a warm day, so if you'd like to wear a lighter shirt (other than our Hockey PEI green machines), please do so. If you have something else to identify you as our runners (i.e. Hockey PEI ball caps, lighter Hockey PEI shirts), please wear that. Also, we're back on the ice this Sunday, 3 - 4:30 pm.

Fitness in Thunder Cove
Thursday, 15 July: Thunder Cove Beach in Darnley. We will meet at the rink in Kensington at 6:30 for those of you who want to car pool or follow someone out to Darnley. We will be on the beach, so wear your swimming gear under your workout stuff and bring a towel. As per Grammie Bernard's rules, we won't be in water over your knees, so if you're not a strong swimmer, no worries!
If you can't make our meeting spot, here are the directions to Thunder Cove: At the intersection in Kensington, head towards Malpeque on Route 20 (go straight through the lights if you're coming from Ch'town, hang a left if you're coming from the Wild West). You will drive for approximately 10-15 minutes, then take a right - this is still Route 20.
Again, approximately 5-10 minutes driving then turn left onto the Darnley Road. (Sorry, no route number on this one) Continue on this road for approximately 2 kilometers, then take a right onto a dirt road. This takes you down to Thunder Cove Beach. Park on the side of the road, and we'll see you on the beach.
See you there!

Enjoy the weather!
Just wanted to touch base - the ice time scheduled for this Sunday (11 July)in Pownal is from 3 - 4:30pm. This is a change from the time we were originally slated for.
Also, we will be biking at Brookvale Nordic Park (that's the cross country site, not the downhill:). If you have a bike, please bring it (mountain bike, not road bike) and if you plan on biking, you absolutely need a helmet. If you don't have a bike, you can still come, there will be a crew that will run the trails. Bring water! See you Thursday. For those of you who have tickets to the big show - enjoy!

Wonderful Wednesday Workout in Montague the Beautiful!
Tonight we're in Montague the Beautiful (no really, that's what it is, read the sign!) at the Montague Regional High School gym (and no, not the new school!)
As you come into Montague from Poole's Corner, turn right at the Queens Road lights (the second set) and take the next left (beside Sobey's). You should see the school. Come in the front doors, down the ramp, up the next ramp and into the gym.
See you there - bring indoors!

Congratulations Samantha M!
If you haven't heard the latest, our very own Samantha Mac is heading on an exciting trip! Check the link to Hockey PEI for the announcement, it should be posted there soon. Sam's going to Finland in June to represent Hockey PEI at the IIHF Youth Development Camp. Great job Sam!
See you all Wednesday, 7pm at KISH.
Coming from Ch'town: go right at the lights in Kensington, the school is approximately 2km from the intersection. Coming from S'side: go straight through the lights, same directions after that! It's on the left hand side of the road (do not enter the exit driveway!) and we'll be around the back of the school, on the track. Dress in layers, bring a water bottle!

Great Job!
For those of you who thought you couldn't - job well done! Today we finished our first five kilometer race as a team, and the coaching staff couldn't be prouder! We have some speed demons in our midst, some early bird runners, and some impressed parents, but the sheer determination on the faces crossing the finish line was something to see (some of us will have to wait for the pictures, because you finished before us!)
Be sure to treat yourselves tonight, (but no chips, that's what we're giving up this week, right?) it's important to celebrate accomplishments like this. Keep your bib, write the date and your time on it for your portfolios. It's a pretty cool momento!
See you next Wonderful Wednesday Workout - this week is at Stonepark in the bowl. Bring your sneaks, water bottle, and a whole lotta attitude, we're doing hills!

First team run!
Check out the link to the PEI Road Runners, and look under the Race Schedule for the information for the run tomorrow.
Just a few reminders:
1. We're meeting at 8:30 in the parking lot outside Proude's shoes. If you arrive early, go in and register. It's $10, but there is a family rate of $20. We've asked if we can go in groups of four to qualify for this - we'll let you know the scoop tomorrow.
2. Be sure to wear your green Hockey PEI shirt. We want everyone to know we are a team.
3. I-Pods are ok - but no bad language in the music. (Just kidding, we're not really going to check this!)
4. Have a good supper tonight (think pasta!) and be sure to eat something tomorrow for breakfast - don't run on an empty stomach!
See you tomorrow!
